What the result means

A timesheet block is split into ordinary and overtime hours at a threshold you choose. It does not roster lunch breaks or span midnight by itself — use the shift calculator for start and finish times.

How it is calculated

Ordinary hours = min(hours, threshold). Overtime hours = max(hours − threshold, 0)
  • Threshold: Hours paid at the ordinary rate.

Pay is ordinary hours × rate plus overtime hours × rate × multiplier.

Assumptions

  • Estimates only — not tax, legal, credit or financial advice. Check the official source or your contract before relying on a figure.
  • One block of hours, one rate, one multiplier.

Worked example

10 hours, overtime after 8, $40 at 1.5

A long day.

Ordinary
8 × $40 = $320
Overtime
2 × $60 = $120
Total
$440

Two overtime hours at time-and-a-half add 50% more than two ordinary hours.

Thresholds come from the agreement

Daily overtime after 8 hours is a common pattern, not a universal rule. Some workplaces use weekly overtime after 38 hours instead. Enter the threshold that actually applies.

Questions

Can I enter a whole fortnight?

Yes, if your overtime rule is weekly or fortnightly. Set the threshold to 38 or 76 as the agreement requires.
