1. What this site provides

OzCalc provides general-purpose calculators and explanatory guides for Australian everyday arithmetic. Results are estimates produced by applying published methods to the inputs you enter. Each calculator page shows the formula it used, the assumptions it made and the sources of any regulated figure.

The site is free to use and does not require an account. We may add, change or withdraw a calculator, a guide or a feature at any time, and we may update these terms — the date at the top of this page shows when they last changed.

2. Not professional advice

Nothing on this site is tax advice, financial advice, credit assistance, legal advice or employment advice, and nothing here is a quote or an offer from a lender, insurer, employer, energy retailer or government agency. We are none of those things.

Rules, rates and thresholds change, and an official source always takes priority over this website. Before acting on a figure, check it against the authority named on the page or with a professional who can consider your circumstances. The disclaimer sets this out in full and forms part of these terms.

3. What you may do

You may, for personal or internal business purposes:

• Use the calculators and read the guides as much as you like, for free.
• Print or save a result for your own records, including as part of your own working.
• Quote a short extract of a guide with attribution and a link to the page it came from.
• Link to any page on the site.

4. What you may not do

• Scrape, bulk-download or systematically copy the site’s content, calculator logic or datasets in order to republish substantially similar pages or to build a competing tool.
• Reproduce a guide in full, or use the content to train a model or generate derivative pages presented as original work.
• Present the site, or a result from it, as an official government service, a professional assessment, or an endorsement by any authority named as a source.
• Remove or obscure attribution, disclaimers or source citations from anything you reproduce.
• Interfere with the site, attempt to circumvent security, or place automated load on it that degrades service for others.

The calculators, their explanations, the guides and the site’s design are our copyright. Rates and thresholds published by government are not — but our particular presentation and explanation of them is.

5. Accuracy and availability

We take accuracy seriously and describe how in our editorial policy, but we do not warrant that the site is error-free, current, complete or continuously available. Calculations may be simplified, data may lag an announced change, and third-party links may move or disappear.

If you find an error, please tell us. Reports are the main way pages get corrected.

6. Third-party content and links

The site links to external sources such as the Australian Taxation Office, Moneysmart, the Fair Work Ombudsman and state authorities. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or availability. A link is a citation, not an endorsement, and the authorities we cite do not endorse this site.

The site carries third-party advertising and uses analytics. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, which the privacy policy lists.

7. Liability

The site is provided as is. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties and are not liable for any loss or damage — including indirect or consequential loss — arising from your use of the site or reliance on an estimate produced by it. That includes decisions about salary negotiations, job offers, loan applications, tenancies, household budgets, payroll and deadlines.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where we are permitted to limit a liability that cannot be excluded, our liability is limited to supplying the relevant information again.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia and, where a state law applies, by the law of the state or territory in which we operate. The site is directed at users in Australia; if you use it from elsewhere, the figures and rules described will generally not apply to you.
