Understanding salary plus super

From 2026–27 the Superannuation Guarantee is 12% of qualifying earnings. That 12% is usually paid on top of a base salary, not taken out of take-home pay.

A $95,000 salary plus super is a $106,400 package. A $95,000 package including super is only about $84,821 of cash salary. Always ask which figure is on the contract.
